End of July Itch

It’s towards the end of July and I’m starting to get that itch. You know, the back to school itch.  YIKES! Granted Open House is not until August 12th (my district does ours before school starts) and the first day isn’t until August 14th, I’m beginning to think about my classroom and what new things I want to do this year. Today I made a poster, rather than buy one. I made a trip to Dollar General for poster board which was 2 for 50 cents and markers for a couple of dollars. I then went back through the many posters I have pinned on Pinterest. I combined my favorite parts and made this poster that I can’t wait to hang in my classroom. I saved money by not buying the already made posters, plus it was able to custom it the way I wanted. The money I saved makes up for the Target $1 Spot trip last week. 🙂image

Summer Deals!

I one heard someone say no matter where you are in the United States, you are within 100 miles of a Walmart. Maybe, it was McDonald’s. Either way, Walmart is my usual place for shopping for random classroom, as well as everything else I need to buy and something that I don’t need! Let’s face it, we’ve all walked into Walmart for a couple of items and came out with $100 of stuff we didn’t need.

Anyways, Target has become my new love for school stuff! There’s not one in the town I teach (we have a Walmart) so I have to travel about 30 minutes. My best friend and I went shopping Thursday and as soon as we walked in I went straight to the dollar bin! How can anyone pass this up???

They have everything there! This is what I came home with…

And the best thing about all these goodies is that each one was of course $1! 🙂

The red tub will be used at my reading table to keep pens, sticky notes, and everything else organized.

I was able to buy 9 dictionaries. I’ll need to buy a couple more to have my kids share with their partners at their tables during writing.

Why the deodorant you might ask? Well it never fails that at least once a week, I’m halfway to school in my car and I remember I didn’t put on deodorant. So rather than stinking all day, I’ll be keeping keep this in my desk, just in case, and applying as needed!

The foam hands are going to be used at Open House in August. I saw an idea on Pinterest to write wish list items on each hand, then lay hand on the table with a sign that says “Can you lend a hand?” Parents take a hand if they are able to buy the item.

Target has a REDcard which is like a debit card and takes 5% off your purchase. You also get free shipping and an extra 30 days to return items. Pretty good deal! 🙂
